Jazz Mentor Program – Talented high school students are mentored
and coached by Chicago’s finest jazz musicians. Beyond the instruction that these
young musicians receive in high school bands, Ravinia provides inspiration, jazz
assemblies and master-classes. Each year students are selected through audition
to become members of the prestigious Jazz Scholar Ensemble and receive intensive
instruction from the Mentors.
Sistema Ravinia – Ravinia’s latest and most innovative program,
is an intensive after school orchestra that fosters social development through exceptional
music training for underserved students in Chicago. Inspired by Venezuela’s influential
El Sistema model, students in the program receive daily ensemble and orchestra instruction
in their chosen instrument.
Ravinia Lawndale Family Music School – Ravinia provides opportunities
for cultural enrichment, to this underserved west-side community, through high-quality
music instruction and performances. The school offers free classes in general music,
voice, violin, guitar and piano to children and adults who reside in the Lawndale
neighborhood, as well as free tickets to Ravinia concerts.
