Since 1988, the Steans Institute has been a leading destination for emerging classical and jazz musicians, offering tuition-free professional development in a nurturing and inspiring environment.
Each summer, exceptional young artists from around the world come to Ravinia to collaborate with peers, learn from distinguished faculty, and perform for enthusiastic audiences—taking the next critical steps in their artistic journeys.
At Steans, every participant receives a fully funded fellowship, covering all expenses associated with this transformative experience, from intensive coaching to room and board. This life-changing opportunity is made possible by the generosity of the Steans Institute’s dedicated donors, whose support ensures that the institute remains accessible to all, empowering the next generation of musical leaders to grow and excel.
Ways to Give
Support the transformative residencies of talented musicians at the Steans Institute by making a tax-deductible gift today. Your contribution directly fuels the artistic growth of these emerging artists and brings their performances to life with free and low-cost concerts all summer long.
Gifts of any size are welcomed and can be designated for general operating expenses or to support the Jazz, Piano & Strings, or Singers Programs specifically. A gift of $10,000 provides full funding for one fellowship, while $5,000 supports a half fellowship. Additional opportunities for involvement include concert sponsorships and contributions to the Steans Institute’s endowment.
With over 70% of our funding coming from the endowment, your gift or bequest can leave a lasting impact. A contribution of $300,000 can permanently fund a full fellowship, and $150,000 can support a half fellowship annually. In some cases, planned gifts can be recognized as fellowships during the donor’s lifetime.
